Hate classroom lectures? You’ll probably share this post

There’s good news for you, something that you probably would share with friends!

You would be used to classroom lectures like we all have gone through. You would be accustomed to chalk-on-whiteboard style learning – one topic per session where the subject is taught in an unidirectional way, the only interaction between teacher and students would be the question-answer session at the end.

But gone are those days NOW! Welcome to the world of Experiential Learning! ( and how you become  JOB READY!)

So, what is experiential learning? Experiential learning is the process of learning through experiences rather than lectures. Students experiment with the concepts through application of teachings in real-life problems. The teacher works as a facilitator who guides the student to actively use their skills immediately hands-on and learn through practice instead of memorizing.

Examples: Most young students have difficulty in mathematics. If instead of textbooks and pen, if the student is given an abacus, would that not have helped make the subject easier to learn. Obviously YES! But not many of you would have had the abacus as a kid, right?

Take another example. Suppose you are an Interior Design student designing a sofa. What would you prefer – taking notes in classrooms OR applying the knowledge using software to see a real-life 3D view of your sofa ideas?

But, experiential learning is not an easy task –  it requires dedication and effort on part of the school and the teacher to engage the students through real-life examples and projects.

It also asks for students to engage fully into the learning experience and implement the skills actively.

SINGLE MOST IMPORTANT BENEFIT of Experiential Learning : You, as a student, become industry oriented and job ready. The industry looks for students who have learnt application of idea in real-world and who can start contributing actively to the organization. When you have gone through experiential learning, you automatically , without any extra effort, become ready for placements – have advantage over other students and know industry applications and requirements rather than bookish knowledge.

So, what do you want? Get geared for JOB READY experiential learning! And probably share this post for the benefit of your friends.
